HPMC

(Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose)

A white powder and a non-ionic cellulose ether derived from the chemical modification of natural cellulose, it is a key additive in the dry-mix mortar industry; even at very low dosage levels—typically just 0.02% to 0.5%—it can significantly alter mortar performance.
Four core functions:
1. Water retention
2. Thickening and sag resistance
3. Improved workability (lubricity)
4. Enhanced adhesion and crack resistance

Primary applications:
Interior and exterior wall putty
Plastering mortar; external wall insulation and crack-resistant mortar
Tile adhesive and tile grout
Gypsum plaster and gypsum leveling compounds
Repair mortar and self-leveling compounds (low-viscosity grades)
